Palace denies PBBM’s role in VP Sara impeachment delay

Malacañang clarified that only the House of Representatives has the exclusive authority to initiate and act on impeachment complaints.

The statement came after a lawmaker claimed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was responsible for delaying the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin emphasized that the President respects the separation of powers and will not interfere in matters under the exclusive jurisdiction of a co-equal branch.

Previously, Bersamin explained that Marcos’ call for lawmakers to focus on more pressing issues instead of pursuing Duterte’s impeachment was merely an expression of his opinion, not an attempt to influence their decision.
