Four incumbent senators joined Iglesia ni Cristo’s (INC) National Prayer for Peace at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.
Spotted in the INC rally were senators Francis Tolentino, Robin Padilla, Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and Bong Go
The INC rally is being held to support the stand of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
President Marcos admitted to have sent text messages to some legislators asking them not to pursue with the impeachment against Duterte as the Filipinos will not benefit from it.
Vice President Duterte is facing three impeachment complaints before the House of Representatives over the alleged misuse of her confidential funds under the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DEPED).
Tolentino, Padilla and dela Rosa are known allies of the vice president and her father former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Senator Padilla in an ambush interview said he will vote against the impeachment if in case it reaches the senate.
The three impeachment complaints are still pending in the House of Representatives but once it can get one third votes from congressmen the Articles of Impeachment go to the senate.
The senate will act as Impeachment Court and the senators as senator judges.
As of 2:00 pm on Monday, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) estimated the crowd at 1, 400,000.
