82-year-old father killed by son in Cebu

An 82-year-old man was killed after he was allegedly struck in the head by his own son following a heated argument in Barangay Basak, Badian, Cebu, on the morning of June 4.

The victim was identified only by the alias “Ecio,” while the suspect was identified as his 43-year-old son, alias “Acoy,” a tricycle driver.

According to the police investigation, a verbal confrontation occurred between the father and son before the incident turned violent.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly picked up a piece of wood and struck his father on the head three times.

The victim reportedly died immediately from the injuries sustained during the attack.

Following the incident, law enforcement officers launched a hot pursuit operation to locate the suspect.

The operation led to the arrest of the 43-year-old man at his residence shortly after the incident.

Police placed the suspect under custody while investigators continued to gather evidence related to the case.

Authorities said the circumstances surrounding the argument remain under investigation.

Based on the initial findings, the suspect may face a parricide charge, a criminal offense involving the killing of a close family member.
