25-year-old woman arrested in deadly hit-and-run

Local authorities arrested a 25-year-old woman after she allegedly caused a fatal hit-and-run incident in Davao City early Sunday morning.

Police identified the suspect as alias Denise from Agdao while the victim was identified as Marlene Genobili a 39-year-old resident.

Investigators said the victim was crossing the road when the suspect’s Ford Ranger struck her with impact causing immediate death.

The suspect then fled the scene without providing assistance to the victim prompting authorities to launch a search operation immediately.

CTTMO personnel later spotted the vehicle moving erratically and zigzagging along the road which raised suspicion among responding officers nearby.

They blocked the vehicle and arrested the driver who allegedly smelled of alcohol during initial assessment at the scene immediately.

Authorities brought the suspect to Ecoland Police Station for proper investigation and verification of her involvement in the fatal incident.

Further investigation confirmed that she was responsible for the hit-and-run incident that resulted in the victim’s death earlier that morning.

Police are now preparing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against the suspect as she remains under police custody.

Authorities reminded motorists to drive responsibly and avoid alcohol to prevent similar incidents that could endanger lives on public roads.

The case highlights ongoing concerns over road safety and enforcement as authorities continue efforts to ensure justice for the victim.
