20K athletes to arrive in Gensan for Batang Pinoy 2025

General Santos City is gearing up to welcome around 20,000 Batang Pinoy delegates from across the country starting next week.

The young athletes will stay in the city for nine to eleven days to compete in the Batang Pinoy 2025 National Games, a flagship program of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) promoting grassroots sports development and youth excellence.

Local officials have urged tricycle drivers and transport operators to observe proper fare rates and avoid overpricing during the duration of the event.

Authorities emphasized that Gensan must show its hospitality and discipline as thousands of guests, athletes, and coaches arrive from various regions nationwide.

Officials implemented similar measures during Batang Pinoy 2024 in Palawan, where they oriented tricycle drivers on proper fare rates to prevent overcharging.

Delegates wore Batang Pinoy IDs so drivers could easily recognize official participants and charge the correct fare.

Traffic enforcers and city personnel will assist visitors and monitor public transport compliance to maintain smooth operations throughout the event.

Authorities encouraged the public to report overpricing or driver misconduct through official channels by submitting documentation or photos of the tricycle involved.

Officials hope the event will highlight Gensan’s unity, sportsmanship, and honesty — showing the entire nation that it truly lives up to the title “Magandang Gensan.”
