2-week Christmas break in public schools announced by DepEd

The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced a two-week Christmas break for students in public schools, starting December 20.

In a Facebook post, DepEd said classes in public elementary and high schools will resume on January 5, 2026.

According to a DepEd order, the holiday break will cover the last two weeks of December, with students returning to school in the first week of January next year.

The agency added that private schools, Philippine Schools Overseas, and state or local universities and colleges may follow the directive, provided they comply with the law requiring that the school calendar should not exceed 220 days.
