2 men found buried in sugarcane field in Negros Occidental

The bodies of two men were discovered buried in a sugarcane field in Hacienda San Roque, Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on Sunday morning, May 4.

A roving employee of the hacienda made the shocking discovery and immediately reported it to authorities. Police personnel responded and recovered the two corpses, which were found buried a short distance apart.

According to Police Captain Rosinie Cabuena, Deputy Chief of the La Carlota City Police Station, the victims were identified by their respective live-in partners. They were known only by their aliases: “Atong,” 32, and “Follow Up,” 29. Both were residents of Barangay 6, Bacolod City.

Initial observations revealed disturbing signs: one victim had his face wrapped in tape, while the other was covered with a tarp.

Authorities have yet to determine the relationship between the two men, or the motive behind the killings.

The area has since been cordoned off, and forensic teams are assisting in the ongoing investigation. Police have not confirmed any suspects or persons of interest as of this writing.

Investigators are gathering more information from the victims’ families and reviewing possible CCTV footage from nearby roads and access points. Authorities have yet to establish how long the victims had been buried or where they were killed.

Police urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as they continue to dig deeper into the case.
