15-Year-Old boy dies after lightning strike in Polomolok, South Cotabato

Lightning struck and killed a 15-year-old boy while he was preparing to roast corn in Purok Kalyong, Barangay Landan, Polomolok, South Cotabato.

The tragic incident occurred around two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, October 14, during a sudden rainfall in the area.

The victim, identified as Reo Jay, a Grade 10 student and resident of Barangay Landan, was helping his family in their farmland.

According to relatives, the teenager was about to roast corn when lightning suddenly hit him, causing severe injuries.

Witnesses said the boy fell unconscious immediately after the lightning strike, prompting nearby residents to rush to his aid.

However, due to the seriousness of his injuries, Reo Jay was declared dead before any medical help could arrive.

Authorities reminded the public to stay indoors during thunderstorms to avoid similar incidents, especially in open fields or farmlands.
