14-year-old stabbed after tablet snatching in Talisay City

A 14-year-old boy was injured after being stabbed during a robbery incident captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) in Barangay San Roque, Talisay City, Cebu, early Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at about 4 a.m. on April 11, according to the City of Talisay Police Station.

CCTV footage showed the victim sitting at the roadside while his mother, identified as alias “Grace,” was sweeping nearby when two suspects arrived riding a motorcycle.

The suspects immediately grabbed the tablet device from the boy.

Police said the boy’s mother attempted to fight back using a broom but sustained bruises during the commotion.

The victim tried to flee but was caught by the suspects, who managed to take the device.

During the incident, the boy was injured after reportedly being stabbed by one of the suspects using an ice pick.

Authorities immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation following the robbery.

The operation led to the arrest of one of the suspects identified as Andrew Abellana, 36, a resident of Barangay Candulawan, Talisay City.

Police said Abellana was arrested at about 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 12.

Meanwhile, authorities continue searching for the suspect’s accomplice identified as alias “AJ,” who allegedly drove the motorcycle used in the crime.

Police said the investigation into the incident remains ongoing as efforts continue to locate the second suspect involved in the robbery.
