Yellow and red alerts raised over Luzon grid

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced that the Luzon grid will be placed under yellow and red alert status today.

According to NGCP spokesperson Atty. Cynthia Alabanza, a yellow alert will be in effect from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a red alert from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and another yellow alert from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, a red alert means there is no available power reserve in the grid, which could result in rotational brownouts or power interruptions.

The NGCP has yet to determine the exact reason behind the Luzon grid being placed under yellow and red alert status today.
