A 36-year-old electrician lost his life in a vehicular accident along the Kabankalan-Mabinay highway in Sitio Overflow, Barangay Orong, Kabankalan City, on the evening of December 24, 2024.
The victim was identified as Rolan Alcontin, a resident of Sitio Labamba in the aforementioned barangay.
Initial police investigation revealed that Alcontin was allegedly pushing his Rusi motorcycle off the main roadway due to a mechanical issue. While attempting to kickstart the motorcycle around 7:00 PM, an unidentified wing van — driven by an unknown individual — allegedly sideswiped the victim.
Alcontin sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital by concerned individuals.
The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival by the attending physician, Dr. Precious Ella Joy G. Gregorio.
The City Police have launched an investigation to locate the driver of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the victim’s family is calling on the suspect to come forward and surrender.
