VP Sara Duterte moves to junk 4th impeachment complaint

Vice President Sara Duterte is seeking the dismissal of the fourth impeachment complaint filed against her. This follows her formal response to the Senate summons related to the impeachment charges.

In a 35-page document submitted by her legal counsel on Monday, Duterte’s camp argued that the fourth complaint is not valid. They claim it violates the one-year ban rule under Article XI of the 1987 Constitution, which restricts the filing of multiple impeachment complaints within the same year against the same official.

The Vice President’s camp further stated that the complaint lacks a “statement of ultimate facts,” describing it as nothing more than “scrap paper.”

Meanwhile, the Senate impeachment court has given House prosecutors until Monday to respond to Vice President Duterte’s official reply to the complaint.

The legal proceedings continue as both parties prepare for the next steps in the impeachment process.
