UP Diliman Student Council Chair Slams Police Subpoena Over Sept. Rally

UP Diliman University Student Council (USC) Chairperson Joaquin “Waks” Buenaflor has criticized the Philippine National Police (PNP) after being issued a subpoena in connection with a rally against corruption held on September 21.

In a press conference, Buenaflor said the police should show their toughness not against students, but against corrupt politicians and plunderers.

He emphasized that those who should be subpoenaed, charged, and arrested are the politicians and contractors who have stolen billions from public funds.

He recounted that three police officers went to his home to personally serve the subpoena, which accuses him of leading the protest last month.
