Grief and shock continue to grip a community in Gingoog City after a father allegedly killed his two sons, both Persons with Disabilities, in Purok 2, Barangay 17 on December 11, 2025.
Police identified the victims as Arnold Washington, 20, and Adrian Jay, 21. According to the Gingoog City Police Station, initial investigation showed that the suspect used a hammer to attack his sons inside their residence. Authorities said the father claimed he acted out of pity for the children’s condition, a statement now strongly rejected by the victims’ relatives.
In a social media post, the suspect’s brother expressed deep anger and sorrow, saying the family had long endured the suspect’s behavior and insisting that the father was not the one caring for the victims. He condemned the killing and described it as an unforgivable act against two already vulnerable individuals. The post also alleged that the suspect informed neighbors about the crime and made disturbing statements involving other family members—claims that police said remain subject to verification.
After the incident, authorities confirmed that the suspect attempted to take his own life but was stopped and immediately taken into police custody. Investigators said the case is ongoing, with mental health factors and family background now part of the probe.
As the investigation continues, the victims’ family is preparing to lay Arnold and Adrian to rest. Relatives have appealed for financial assistance to help cover funeral and burial expenses, saying the tragedy came with sudden and overwhelming costs.
Police urged the public to allow due process to take its course and reminded families facing emotional or mental health crises to seek professional help before situations turn irreversible.
