Police have arrested two men accused of stealing copper wire from a school in General Santos City after reviewing surveillance footage.
Authorities identified the suspects through closed-circuit television recordings that allegedly captured their activities inside the school premises before the reported theft.
Both suspects are now under police custody while investigators complete the necessary documentation and prepare the appropriate charges related to the incident.
One of the arrested men declined to comment when approached by reporters seeking his statement regarding the allegations against him. Police continued processing evidence recovered during the investigation to support the case filed against the suspects.
Maria Cora Borro, a retired police officer and head of security at Golden State College, said school personnel discovered the theft during early morning rounds.
School authorities immediately coordinated with police after confirming that copper wire had been taken from the campus.
Investigators then reviewed available surveillance footage, which eventually helped authorities identify the individuals allegedly involved in the reported theft.
Police official Lim assured the public that officers continue enforcing strict security measures throughout areas under their responsibility, especially the Central Business District.
Authorities also encouraged schools, business establishments, and residents to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious activities to police to help prevent similar crimes and strengthen community safety.
