Travis Kelce calls Donald Trump’s Super Bowl attendance an ‘honor’ despite Taylor Swift’s past criticism of him

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is embracing the spotlight ahead of the Super Bowl, where he will take the field in the biggest game of his career. However, with President Donald Trump confirming his attendance, Kelce’s comments about the event have stirred speculation—particularly given his relationship with Taylor Swift, who has been vocal about her opposition to Trump.

During a press conference on Feb. 5, Kelce shared his thoughts on having the former president in attendance at the highly anticipated matchup.

“I think, you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life,” Kelce told reporters. “Having the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world. So, that’d be pretty cool.”

While Trump has not officially declared which team he will support, he previously praised the Chiefs after their victory over the Buffalo Bills, calling them a “GREAT Team” on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Trump’s History With Taylor Swift Resurfaces

Kelce’s remarks come at a tense political moment, as Swift previously endorsed Trump’s opponent, Kamala Harris, in the 2024 presidential election. In an Instagram post, the singer expressed her support for Harris and her running mate Tim Walz, citing their stance on LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive rights, and women’s healthcare.

“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,” Swift wrote in her post.

Trump, however, has not been a fan of Swift, and has taken multiple shots at her in recent months. During an interview on Fox & Friends, he criticized the singer’s political leanings and suggested she would “pay a price” for endorsing a Democrat.

“I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” Trump said. “It was just a question of time. She couldn’t possibly endorse Biden… But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Instead, Trump voiced his admiration for Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. “Brittany got a lot of news last week. She’s a big MAGA fan—that’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift,” he added.

Kelce Stays Neutral Amid Political Divide

Despite the growing political controversy surrounding Swift and Trump, Kelce has chosen to keep his focus on the game rather than engaging in political debates. While some speculate that Kelce’s comments about Trump may cause tension between him and Swift, others believe he is simply acknowledging the significance of the Super Bowl, regardless of the guest list.

As the Chiefs prepare to face off in the biggest game of the year, the swirling drama between Kelce, Swift, and Trumpis adding an unexpected layer of intrigue to an already high-stakes event.
