Teen searching for signal found dead in Cotabato creek

Authorities are investigating the death of an 18-year-old girl found in a creek in Old Bulatukan, Makilala, Cotabato on Wednesday morning, June 11, 2025.

The victim, identified as Rhona Mae Patricio, reportedly left her home around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, to search for cellphone signal. She never returned.

According to the Makilala Municipal Police Station, a concerned citizen discovered Patricio’s lifeless body in a creek inside the Boy Scout Camp compound in Old Bulatukan at about 7:30 a.m. the following day.

Investigators said the victim’s body was found without clothing. She also sustained significant head injuries, both at the front and back of her head, which authorities believe caused her death.

The police are now tracing the individuals who may have been the last to chat or speak with Patricio before her death.

The official post mortem examination is still pending to confirm the cause of death and determine whether sexual assault occurred.

Meanwhile, Patricio’s family, friends, and community members continue to call for justice as they await further investigation results.
