A student died after allegedly jumping from a high portion of the LRT-1 Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue Station near Muñoz on Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Initial findings from LRT security personnel identified the victim as a student from Philippine Christian University after responders recovered an identification card at the scene. The victim was reportedly wearing a school uniform, according to a report by RH-5 Val Gonzales.
Authorities said the victim fell from an estimated three-story height onto the northbound lane of EDSA toward Balintawak and Monumento. Personnel from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority confirmed that a passing vehicle dragged the victim’s body several meters from the suspected point of impact.
Witnesses reported that the victim was still moving shortly after the fall. First responders, including a rescue team from a media organization, attempted to check the victim’s condition and provide assistance.
By around 10:57 a.m., however, the victim had stopped moving. Four ambulances responded to the incident, including units from the MMDA Road Emergency Group.
A jeepney dispatcher who witnessed the incident said she initially thought a piece of clothing had been thrown from the station. The incident caused heavy traffic along EDSA northbound.
