Son kills father, neighbor over theft accusation in Cebu

A man killed his father and a neighbor in Barangay Luka, Oslob, Cebu, on Friday morning, February 21, after suspecting that he had been reported to the police for theft.

The suspect, identified as Randy Dinaguit, attacked his father, Ciano, and their neighbor, Samuel, before authorities responded and arrested him. Police shot Dinaguit in the hand and foot to subdue him.

According to a neighbor, Jen, the suspect became furious after believing that his female friend reported him to the police for allegedly stealing wood.

On Thursday, Dinaguit was already searching for the woman while carrying bladed weapons and even threatened to kill those he encountered. A viral video circulating online showed him walking along the road with weapons, glaring menacingly at passersby.

Jen stated that the killings likely occurred at dawn, as they were awakened at 5 a.m. and advised to hide in fear of being the next targets.

Reports indicate that the suspect attacked his father while he was sleeping, slashing his neck, wrists, and feet. The suspect’s sibling fled the house upon witnessing the crime.

Samuel, the second victim, was reportedly targeted because Dinaguit believed he was connected to the woman he accused of snitching.

It was later revealed that Dinaguit made a living building chicken coops and allegedly had mental health issues.

Authorities discovered a plywood in his home with cryptic writings.
