SK Kagawad, two others arrested in Bacolod City drug bust

An elected Sangguniang Kabataan councilor and two other individuals were arrested during a police drug buy-bust operation in Barangay 2, Bacolod City, on Monday morning, Jan. 19.

Police identified the suspects as alias Jess, 19; alias JM, 18; and SK Kagawad alias Jov, 23. Authorities said the operation resulted in the seizure of suspected shabu valued at more than ₱700,000.

According to police, the suspects were apprehended after selling illegal drugs to an undercover officer during the operation conducted by personnel of the Bacolod City Police Station 2. The buy-bust was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug activities in the area.

Recovered from the suspects were approximately 105 grams of suspected shabu. Police said the seized drugs have an estimated standard drug price of ₱714,000.

Following their arrest, the three suspects were taken to the custody of Bacolod City Police Station 2 for documentation and further investigation. Authorities said proper inventory and marking of the seized items were conducted in accordance with established procedures.

The police did not provide further details on the background of the suspects or the duration of the operation. No information was also released regarding any previous cases involving the arrested individuals.

Authorities said the suspects will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Formal complaints are being prepared as part of the inquest proceedings.
