A tragic motorcycle accident claimed the life of a young Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairperson early Tuesday morning, January 28, 2025. The victim, identified as Aerome Jose Cabalongga, 20, of Barangay Centro San Antonio, was declared dead-on-arrival after losing control of his Honda ADV motorcycle along the national road in Barangay Malalam.
According to the Ilagan City Police, the incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. while Cabalongga was traveling from Barangay Malalam toward Barangay San Antonio. Upon reaching the accident site, he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a parked vehicle on the roadside.
The impact of the crash caused severe injuries to Cabalongga, who was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital by Rescue 1124. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead by the attending physician upon arrival.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, including whether speed or road conditions played a role. The incident has left the community in mourning, as Cabalongga was a promising young leader in Barangay Centro San Antonio.
This tragedy highlights the dangers of road travel, especially during late hours, and serves as a reminder for motorists to exercise caution at all times.
