Sen. Gatchalian says he is ready if chosen as SP

Senator Win Gatchalian assured the public that he is ready to assume the Senate presidency amid ongoing talks of coup attempts in the upper chamber of Congress.

In an interview, Gatchalian said his 10 years in the Senate and his experience handling major responsibilities have prepared and shaped him for leadership.

According to the senator, chairing several Senate committees helped him gain valuable experience both as a lawmaker and as a leader.

He added that if becoming Senate President is part of God’s plan, then it will happen at the right time.

For now, Gatchalian said the Senate should focus on restoring its dignity and public image amid the major controversies involving some of its members.

He noted that in recent days, the chamber has seemingly been used for “drama, memes, and funny videos” instead of lawmaking.

The senator also said that in his ten years in the Senate, this is the first time he has witnessed such a situation.

Meanwhile, Gatchalian stressed that those behind the shooting incident inside the Senate must be held accountable.

He also emphasized the need to ensure that such an incident will never happen again.
