Radio broadcaster arrested in drug bust, P450,000 worth of illegal drugs seized

A radio broadcaster and an accomplice are now detained after being caught in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Riverside, Calinan, Davao City.

In an interview with Brigada Davao, Police Major Robel Saavedra, acting police chief of the Calinan Police Station, stated that the operation targeted alias Arnulfo, 44, a resident of Diwata, Monkayo.

Accompanying the primary target at the time was his accomplice, alias JM, 33, who initially identified himself as a farmer from Mati City, Davao Oriental.

However, it was later discovered that JM is a radio broadcaster who previously worked in the said city and is now operating in San Isidro, Davao Oriental.

The suspects are now facing charges, especially for conspiring in the illegal drug trade. Authorities seized a large pack of suspected shabu weighing 66.21 grams, with an estimated street value of P450,000.

Saavedra further disclosed that the two suspects have been turned over to Maa City Jail since their arrest on January 11 of this month.
