Pope Francis has named Most Rev. Midyphil Billones as the new Archbishop of Jaro, Iloilo City, strengthening his leadership in the Catholic Church in the Visayas.
The Vatican announced his appointment on February 2, 2025.
A native of Panay, Capiz, Billones pursued his philosophical studies at St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary in Iloilo City and later earned a Doctorate in Theology from the Loyola School of Theology at Ateneo de Manila University.

The Church ordained him as a priest on October 2, 1995. He served as parochial vicar of the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral for two years before becoming Auxiliary Bishop of Cebu in 2019.
That same year, the Vatican also named him Titular Bishop of Tagarata.
As Archbishop of Jaro, Billones takes on a pivotal role in leading one of the most prominent archdioceses in the Visayas, guiding the faithful and advancing the Church’s mission in the region.
