PDEA seizes P47.6 million shabu, arrests two high-value targets in Tawi-Tawi

Authorities arrested two high-value target personalities after seizing suspected shabu worth P47.6 million in a buy-bust operation in Sibutu, Tawi-Tawi.

The operation was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Tawi-Tawi Provincial Office led by Officer Abraham S. Kalim under the supervision of PDEA BARMM Regional Director Edgar Jubay.

The buy-bust took place at around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in Barangay Poblacion, Sibutu.

Kalim identified the suspects as Alvin Junurin Ajahub Albin and Bennassir Mohammadsai. Both are residents of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

Authorities said the suspects were arrested after allegedly selling illegal drugs during the operation.

Recovered from their possession were seven golden-yellow teabags labeled “Guanyinwang” that contained suspected shabu.

The confiscated illegal drugs weighed around 7,000 grams, or about seven kilograms, with an estimated street value of P47,600,000.

Aside from the suspected drugs, authorities also seized several non-drug evidence and recovered the buy-bust money used during the operation.

Police said the main target, Albin, attempted to escape by running toward the shoreline during the operation.

He sustained injuries during the attempt and was placed under hospital arrest.

Meanwhile, his companion Mohammadsai is currently in the custody of authorities.

Both suspects are expected to face charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act related to illegal drugs.

The seized substances will undergo further examination as authorities continue their investigation into the case.
