A high-value drug suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) BARMM around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday in Barangay Bongolo, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.
PDEA BARMM Director Gil Cesario Castro identified the suspect as Alimar Hadji Ali, also known as “Orak,” 21, a resident of Barangay Cairatan, Molundo, Lanao del Sur.
Seized from Ali were two purple plastic bags containing suspected shabu. The bags were marked “A+” and had a golden turtle design. The total weight of the illegal drugs was two kilograms, with an estimated street value of ₱13,680,000.00.
Authorities also recovered a scooter, various identification cards, and the buy-bust money used during the operation.
Director Castro credited the successful operation to the continued cooperation among government law enforcement agencies working together to combat the illegal drug trade in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
PDEA BARMM continues to urge the public to report individuals involved in illegal drug activities.
The suspect is now detained at the PDEA BARMM facility in PC Hill, Poblacion 1, Cotabato City and is facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
