PCG records nearly 1.7 million port passengers during Holy Week

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has recorded nearly 1.7 million passengers in ports across the country this Holy Week.

In an interview, PCG Spokesperson Noemie Cayabyab said the figure includes both inbound and outbound passengers.

The highest passenger volume was recorded in Central Cebu, Batangas, Aklan, Iloilo, and Oriental Mindoro.

The PCG expects a high turnout of port passengers, similar to last year’s Holy Week.

According to Cayabyab, nearly three million passengers were recorded during the same period last year.

Because of this, the agency has intensified pre-departure inspections of all vessels and is ensuring that no overloading incidents occur.
