The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has raised its status to heightened alert in preparation for the surge of travelers this holiday season.
PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan directed all districts, stations, and sub-stations to implement strict security at ports, ferry terminals, and ship’s sea trips.
“Our kababayans have long been waiting for this season to spend quality time with their families and loved ones, either at their home provinces or in various vacation spots. Thus, we are anticipating and preparing for the high volume of maritime traffic,” Admiral Gavan said.
The PCG said it aims to ensure the smooth operation of sea transport facilities and convenient travel for passengers.
They also put under close watch a number of beaches and private resorts that tourists are expected to visit.
A thorough inspection of luggage and the presence of medical teams for emergencies is expected.
