Aprubado na ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ang RA 11959 o ang Regional Specialty Centers Act.
Sa impormasyon na ibinahagi ng Presidential Communications Office o PCO, sa ilalim ng naturang batas, itinalaga ang Department of Health o DOH magtatag ng mga specialty center sa mga ospital sa bawat rehiyon at sa mga Government Owned and Controlled Corporation o GOCCs hospital.
Prayoridad dito ang cancer care, cardiovascular care, lung care, renal care and kidney transplant, brain and spine care, trauma care and burn care.
Gayundin ang orthopedic care, physical rehabilitation medicine, infectious disease and tropical medicine, toxicology, mental health, geryatric care, neonatal care, dermatology, eye care, ear, nose, at throat care.
Inaatasan din ng batas ang DOH na ikategorya ang antas ng kakayahan sa serbisyo ng mga specialty center bilang National Specialty Centers (NSCs), Advanced Comprehensive Specialty Centers (ACSCs), at Basic Comprehensive Specialty Centers (BCSCs) alinsunod sa Philippine Health Facility Development Plan.
