Authorities confiscated an estimated P27.2 million worth of suspected shabu during a major anti-illegal drug operation conducted on Araw ng Kagitingan, April 9 in Sibulan, Negros Oriental.
The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) led the early morning operation at around 6 a.m. in Purok 6, Barangay Maslog, Sibulan, targeting a High Value Individual (HVI) suspected of drug trafficking.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Eljin,” is a 50-year-old resident of Barangay II, Bais City.
Police recovered 40 plastic packs of suspected shabu with a total weight of approximately 4,000 grams from the suspect. The illegal drugs are estimated to have a street value of P27.2 million.
The arrest and seizure came as part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs in Negros Oriental and across the country.
The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether the seized drugs were part of a larger distribution network, but investigations are ongoing.
