Nursing student killed in truck collision in Naga City, Cebu

A 23-year-old nursing student was killed, while two others were injured, following a collision involving two dump trucks in Barangay Balirong, Naga City, Cebu on Saturday afternoon, April 18, 2026.

The victim was identified as Gayle Olandria, a resident of Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

According to the initial police investigation, the victim was riding along with two companions in a mini dump truck driven by a man identified only as alias “Alexander.” Authorities said the vehicle was struck from behind by another dump truck driven by alias “Raymart.”

Due to the force of the impact, the three passengers were thrown from the vehicle. Olandria sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead as a result of the crash.

The two other passengers who were with the victim sustained injuries and were brought for medical treatment. Police did not immediately release further details on their conditions.

Authorities said the driver of the second dump truck, identified as Raymart, is now under police custody as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.

Investigators are continuing to gather evidence to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the collision. Police have yet to announce possible charges as of this writing.
