Nearly 100 homes razed in midnight fire in GenSan

A massive fire engulfed an estimated 100 homes late Monday night in Zone 2-B, Purok Kulasi, Barangay Labangal, General Santos City displacing over 270 individuals.

The fire broke out around 11 p.m. on May 5, catching most residents off-guard as they were already asleep, according to Purok Chairman Sarip Jainal Pulalon in an interview with Brigada Gensan.

Pulalon confirmed that more than 270 individuals were affected by the incident, with many unable to save any of their belongings.

Victims interviewed by Brigada expressed their plea for assistance, saying they lost nearly everything in the blaze. Some attempted to salvage whatever items they could find among the debris—hoping to sell them for recovery.

Authorities from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
