The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) criticized Vice President Sara Duterte for claiming the agency had “predetermined” its decision to file a case against her, even before its probe has officially started.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago described Duterte’s statement as “dangerous” and inappropriate, especially coming from the country’s second-highest official.
Duterte’s comments surfaced amid a looming inquiry into allegations against her, details of which remain undisclosed. Santiago emphasized the NBI’s impartiality, adding that it will recommend by January whether charges against the vice president should proceed.
The director also urged Duterte to cooperate, particularly regarding her persistent claims of threats to her life.
