A woman was shot and killed during a robbery along Daang Maharlika Highway Km. 16, Holcim area, Ilang, Davao City, June 28, 2025.
The victim, identified as Mary Joy, 33, a resident of Mañalac, New Pandan, Panabo City, was with her live-in partner, Dino Libradilla, aboard an elf truck. The couple had just delivered scrap metal at Davao Mighty Steel Corporation and was on their way back to Panabo when they were flagged down by two unidentified men on a motorcycle.
Police said the suspects stopped the vehicle under the pretense of a traffic violation. Libradilla stepped out while the back rider approached the passenger side and confronted Mary Joy. A commotion followed, ending with a single gunshot.
According to Libradilla, the suspect fled with Mary Joy’s bag containing approximately ₱200,000 in cash and assorted jewelry.
Responding medical personnel declared the victim dead on-site from a gunshot wound to her lower ribs.
The Regional Forensic Unit 11, recovered one spent .45 caliber cartridge and four gold rings at the scene. Her family has been advised to allow an autopsy.
Police are conducting follow-up operations to identify and apprehend the suspects.
