A motorcycle driver was killed while his passenger was injured after their vehicle collided with a truck along Daang Maharlika Highway in Tibungco, Davao City, on September 27.
The Bunawan Police Station reported that the crash happened at about 11:00 a.m. near Km. 8 in front of a local establishment.
The motorcycle was owned and driven by Ivan Lloyd Caluda, habal-habal driver. His passenger was identified as 24-year-old Angelica Caca.
The truck involved was a prime mover type and driven by 37-year-old Jessie Talingting Nibrea, a resident of Sasa, Davao City.
Police said both vehicles were traveling in the same direction, from Panabo toward Panacan. Caluda was on the outer lane while Nibrea’s truck was on the inner lane. When the truck moved into the motorcycle’s lane, its front portion struck the rear of the motorcycle.
The impact caused the motorcycle to crash onto the pavement, resulting in serious injuries to both riders. Responding paramedics reported that Caluda had no pulse and was not breathing. Caca was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities took the truck driver and both vehicles to the police station for safekeeping and proper disposition as investigation continues.
