Mayor Tata Sala faces grave threats complaint after viral Facebook videos

The family of a slain barangay captain has filed a complaint for grave threats against Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur Mayor Jose Nelson “Tata” Sala.

Documents provided to Brigada Davao show that the complaint was filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Digos City. The case stems from videos allegedly posted by Sala on his personal Facebook account on Nov. 16, 2025.

In the videos cited in the complaint, Sala was heard making statements that the family claimed were directed at Barangay Tres de Mayo Captain Oscar “Dodong” Bucol. Portions of the statements quoted in the affidavit included remarks such as, “Ako naman imong gihagit. Asa diay imong gusto, dong, mag-abot ta… Dili nako pabugnawon, maayo nang init-init pa.”

Captain Bucol had become a frequent subject of online discussion due to his live-streamed videos on Facebook, where he made accusations of alleged incompetence and corruption in Davao del Sur. The live streams drew significant attention on social media.
