A 43-year-old man was killed after he was shot multiple times by riding-in-tandem suspects while sitting inside a computer shop in Bacolod City early Sunday morning.
The victim, identified only by the alias “Butsoy,” was attacked at around 1 a.m. on June 1 in San Jose 2, Barangay Sum-ag.
According to the initial police investigation, the gunman repeatedly fired at the victim before fleeing on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice. The suspects escaped toward the western part of the area.
Residents and responders rushed the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, he was declared dead by a doctor at around 2:20 a.m. due to multiple gunshot wounds sustained in different parts of his body.
Investigators recovered seven spent cartridge cases believed to be from a .45-caliber firearm, along with four fired bullets at the crime scene.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the attack and the identities of the suspects involved.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify, locate, and arrest the gunmen responsible for the killing.
The incident adds to a series of shooting cases involving motorcycle-riding assailants, commonly referred to as riding-in-tandem suspects, which continue to be monitored by law enforcement agencies.
Police are urging anyone with information that may help in the investigation to coordinate with authorities as efforts continue to bring the perpetrators to justice.
