A member of the LGBTQIA+ community was killed in a shooting incident that occurred past 2:00 AM on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in Sitio Chicago, Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Wendolyn, a local resident and an ex-convict, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and other parts of the body.
According to the Mambaling Police Station, they received a report about the shooting in the area and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying in a narrow alley, riddled with bullets, which led to her immediate death.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered two slugs and four empty shells from a .45 caliber firearm at the crime scene.
The police have launched a hot pursuit operation against the primary suspect, identified only as “Alyas Jason,” along with two other individuals believed to be involved in the crime. Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the shooting.
The local LGBTQIA+ community is in mourning following the tragic loss, as many express outrage over the senseless act of violence. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspects to come forward to help in the investigation and bring justice to the victim.
The police assured that they are continuing their efforts to capture the suspects and investigate the possible motives behind the crime.
