A 30-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by her live-in partner in a jealous rage on Saturday, April 19, at Washington Street in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City, Cebu.
The victim, identified only as alias Anna, was walking home with her sibling when the suspect, alias Tonton, 38, suddenly ran toward them. He allegedly grabbed Anna by the hair and repeatedly stabbed her on the spot.
According to the police report based on the sister’s account, the attack appeared to be driven by jealousy. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
In an interview with Brigada News FM Cebu, the suspect admitted he acted out of anger, accusing the victim of cheating on him. He added that the couple had come from a beach outing and had a serious conversation where they agreed to separate.
The suspect reportedly agreed to the breakup on the condition that their four-year-old child would stay with him. However, he claimed the victim refused, further fueling his anger.
The suspect is now in police custody while authorities continue the investigation. No charges have been formally filed yet as of this report.
