Imee confirms circulation of draft resolution pushing for the dismissal of VP Sara’s impeachment case

Senator Imee Marcos confirmed that there is a draft resolution circulating among senators seeking to dismiss the impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte.

According to Marcos, she has seen different versions of the resolution, but none of them are final yet.

“One of the many drafts I’ve seen has varying objectives. There are many versions, all looking for the most effective and lawful solution, one with no loopholes,” Marcos said.

However, Senate President Chiz Escudero denied that there is a resolution filed seeking to dismiss the impeachment complaint against the Vice President.

According to Escudero, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. confirmed to him that there is no such resolution recorded in the Senate’s Bills and Index.

Senator Christopher Bong Go also said he has not received any resolution seeking to dismiss the impeachment complaint.

Prior to this, a draft resolution with the title “Resolution Declaring the De Facto Dismissal of the Impeachment Case Against Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte by Operation of the 1987 Constitution” circulated on social media.

There is no clear answer yet on where it came from or who will file it in the Senate.

The Senate is set to convene as an impeachment court on June 11 to pave the way for the prosecution panel’s presentation of the Articles of Impeachment against Duterte.

Batangas Second District Representative Jinky Luistro has been designated to read the impeachment articles.

Duterte is facing an impeachment complaint in the senate on allegations that she misused the confidential funds under the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education (Dep-Ed).
