DSWD Sec. Gatchalian Assesses Condition of Earthquake Victims in Davao Oriental

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian immediately travelled to Davao Oriental following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake.

He visited the Manay District Hospital to ensure the welfare of residents affected by the disaster.

The hospital was among the severely impacted facilities, prompting the temporary evacuation of patients as the building remains unsafe due to aftershocks.

Gatchalian is also scheduled to visit evacuation centers in Manay to check on evacuees and assess their urgent needs.

Accompanying him on the visit are Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara, Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Leo Magno, DSWD Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) Undersecretary Diana Rose Cajipe, and DSWD Davao Regional Director Rhuelo Aradanas.
