The number of passengers who traveled through ports during the entire Holy Week reached 3.4 million.
This was reported by Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Spokesperson Commodore Noemie Cayabyab amid the influx of यात्रers in various ports across the country.
In an interview, Cayabyab said a significant volume of travelers was recorded on Holy Wednesday and yesterday, Easter Sunday, particularly in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan, Batangas, and Oriental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, she also reported a decrease in drowning incidents.
From 53 cases recorded last year, only 37 drowning incidents were responded to this year.
Most of the cases involved individuals who had consumed alcohol and minors.
According to Cayabyab, the efforts of local government units (LGUs), beach resort owners, and other government agencies greatly contributed to ensuring safety during Holy Week.
