Newly-installed transportation chief Vince Dizon wants all sitting undersecretaries, assistant secretaries and directors under his agency to immediately submit their courtesy resignations.
In a memorandum dated February 24, 2025 Dizon said the resignation of his colleagues will give him free hand to perform the mandate given by the president.
“ALL incumbent Undersecretaries, Assistant Secretaries, and Directors of this Department are hereby directed to tender their UNQUALIFIED COURTESY RESIGNATIONS, not later than 26 February, subject to pertinent civil service laws, rules and regulations,” the memorandum said.
The order further states that while there is no action taken yet on the resignations the subject officials , they shall continue to report for work and perform their usual duties and responsibilities.
Dizon issued the memo a day after he took his oath as secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) following the resignation of former transport chief Jaime Bautista.
Among those who are requested to resign are officials of DOTr- attached agencies that includes the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
