Contractor couple Curlee Discaya and Sarah Discaya, along with several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), are facing graft and malversation charges over alleged irregularities in flood control projects in Calumpit, Bulacan.
The case was filed before the Clerk of Court by Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano and DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon.
The complaint stems from a river structure rehabilitation project along the Bulusan River in Calumpit, Bulacan that was implemented by the DPWH Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office.
According to Dizon, authorities are hopeful that Curlee Discaya will be arrested in the coming days, similar to what happened to his wife.
He noted that the malversation charge is non-bailable, and the next step is for the court to issue an arrest warrant.
Dizon expressed confidence that the Discayas and other individuals involved in the alleged anomaly will be held accountable.
Curlee Discaya is currently under Senate custody, while Sarah Discaya remains detained in Cebu in connection with a separate graft and malversation case involving an alleged ₱96.5-million “ghost” flood control project in Davao Occidental.
