The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) confirmed that the death of Dueñas, Iloilo Vice Mayor Aimee Paz Lamasan was caused by accidental firing.
In a press briefing, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said that based on the police investigation and statements from Lamasan’s relatives, there was no foul play involved in her death.
He added that the incident was also not a case of suicide.
With these findings, the DILG concluded that the cause of Lamasan’s death was accidental firing.
Meanwhile, Remulla clarified that the vice mayor was not involved in any flood control issues.
He stressed that Lamasan had no connection whatsoever to flood control projects.
