Rep. Leila de Lima emphasized that the renewed impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte at the House of Representatives proves that not all legacies left in history are honorable.
In a video message, De Lima said it is the first time in Philippine history that a vice president has been impeached twice.
According to her, the approval by the House of Representatives of the Philippines of the Justice Committee Report and the Articles of Impeachment marked a successful step forward in the accountability process.
She added that the truth and the pursuit of accountability can no longer be stopped.
Following this, De Lima called on the entire Senate of the Philippines to fulfill its constitutional mandate and duty amid the change in leadership.
De Lima firmly stated that in this impeachment case, it is not only Vice President Duterte who will be placed on trial, but the senators themselves will also be judged.
She added that the public is watching closely and that the Filipino people are fully aware of the proceedings.
