Cop killed serving warrant in Davao City

A police officer was killed while serving an arrest warrant in Sitio Allon, Barangay Malabog, Paquibato District, Davao City. The incident occurred when the suspect, Nestor Ansayod, opened fire on the officers.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) identified the fallen officer as Police Staff Sergeant Noel Marundan, stationed at Paquibato Police Station. Ansayod, who was also killed in the exchange, faced charges of two counts of murder, kidnapping, serious illegal detention, robbery by a band, and serious illegal detention.

According to the DCPO report, Ansayod fired at the officers as they attempted to serve the warrant, fatally wounding Marundan. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Marundan succumbed to his injuries.

Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte expressed condolences, stating, “PSSg Marundan will always be remembered for his courageous service, and we will honor his legacy as we continue to fight for a peaceful society.” The mayor also commended the DCPO officers for their dedication to public service.
