Contractor shot in broad daylight in Bacolod City

A businessman and contractor was shot by an unidentified suspect Tuesday morning, September 9, in Barangay 12, Bacolod City.

The attack happened around 7 a.m. as the victim was about to open his hardware store, according to initial police reports. The suspect fired without warning and fled the scene.

Police Captain Francis Depasucat, chief of Police Station 1, told Brigada News FM Bacolod that the gunman escaped aboard an alleged SUV, believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle. Authorities are still working to confirm the vehicle’s details.

The victim, estimated to be in his early 50s, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was rushed to a hospital. His condition has not been disclosed.

Captain Depasucat said investigators will look into the victim’s possible connections or affiliations, given his background as both a businessman and contractor. This angle, he added, will be closely examined as part of the ongoing probe.

Police are currently conducting backtracking operations and reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area to identify the suspect and piece together the sequence of events.
