A delivery van helper was killed early Wednesday, Aug. 6, after the vehicle he was riding collided with another truck while avoiding a carabao that crossed the road in Barangay Daga, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental police said.
Authorities identified the victim as “Laurace,” a resident of Iloilo.
According to an initial police investigation, the van was driven by “Nestor” when the carabao suddenly appeared on the road. The driver swerved to avoid the animal but veered into the opposite lane, hitting a delivery truck driven by “Alan,” 28.
Passengers from both vehicles sustained minor injuries, except for the van helper, who suffered severe injuries and died.
Police believe the carabao may have broken free from where it was tied.
The investigation into the incident continues.
