Cabinet Members Assure Aid for Earthquake Victims in Davao Oriental

Members of the Cabinet immediately went to Davao Oriental following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake.

Among those who arrived were Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara, and Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Leo Tereso Magno.

They met with Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang to coordinate rehabilitation efforts after the quake.

Gatchalian assured continuous support and relief assistance for affected families.

Meanwhile, Dizon committed to prompt infrastructure rehabilitation and assessments through the DPWH.

The officials also inspected the Manay District Hospital to check on the condition of affected residents.

The hospital was among those heavily impacted by the earthquake, with patients temporarily evacuated due to the building’s vulnerability to aftershocks.

Gatchalian and Dizon are also scheduled to visit evacuation centers in Manay, Davao Oriental to check on evacuees and assess their immediate needs.
